Imprisoned PML-N pioneer Nawaz Sharif on Thursday asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to suspend his sentence in Al-Azizia debasement reference case till the high court chooses his supplication against the decision.
On December 24, 2018, the Accountability Court 2 of Islamabad had given a seven-year imprisonment to Sharif alongside a fine of Rs1.5 billion and $25 million in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills/Hill Metal Establishment reference. However, cleared him in the Flagship Investment reference case.
The accountability court, as a component of the Al-Azizia Steel Mills judgment, had likewise banished Sharif from holding public office for a long time subsequent to finishing his sentence.
